About Us

Traveler receiving traditional rapé ceremony from an indigenous woman in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil

The Soul Tribe

Alegria Retreat is a living collaboration between different villages of the Huni Kuin people and a network of collaborators who share a deep respect for the Amazon rainforest and its ancestral wisdom. We are not just a retreat space — we are part of a living forest family, connected through culture, music, nature, and spirit.

Rooted in the traditions of the Huni Kuin, also known as Kaxinawá, our community brings together elders, artists, guardians of the forest, and supporters who work hand in hand to protect and preserve the cultural and natural heritage of the Amazon. Each village involved carries its own knowledge, songs, ceremonies, and stories that have been passed down through generations.

The Calling - Why We Do This

Our love for nature

At Alegria Retreat, we believe that the forest is alive, and that culture and nature cannot be separated. Our purpose is to support the continuity of traditional knowledge, protect sacred practices, and create spaces where people can experience a deeper connection with the jungle and themselves.

Through music, storytelling, ceremonies, and shared daily life in the forest, we offer an authentic experience of Amazonian culture. The songs of the Huni Kuin carry teachings about healing, balance, and respect for all living beings. By sharing these traditions, we aim to strengthen cultural preservation while fostering mutual understanding between indigenous communities and the wider world.
